At the German Senior Individual Championships in Öhringen (we reported on this in the DKBC Live Center ), none of last year's six champions were able to successfully defend their title. However, Kurt Freiermuth (KV Mutterstadt) was only three pins short of taking second place.

The seniors play for the overall score, but these days the average score is 120 balls. The track at the Sporthotel Öhringen was used to select six champions in the C, B, and A senior women's categories (over 70, over 60, over 50). The top eight from the preliminary rounds advanced to the finals.

Senior Women A - Martina Orth-Helbach (TSV Schott-Mainz)
The outstanding athlete was Martina Orth-Helbach from TSV Schott Mainz, who convincingly won the final after the preliminary round and, with 1179 pins, ended up 86 pins ahead of second-placed Heike photo editing services Reinhardt (KSV 90 Gräfinau-Angstedt) . Heike Herbst (KSV Ottendorf-Okrilla) opened the final with a score of 1057 and ended up winning bronze. Defending champion Stefanie Steinmann (KSC Fortuna Azley, 509) was eliminated in eleventh place in the preliminary round.

Senior A – Udo Volkland (KKB Anhalt-Bitterfeld)
Armin Kuhn (KV Mutterstadt) started the final with a championship-winning score of 619, but Udo Volkland countered in a thrilling final round and, after 610 pins, took the championship crown by three pins. Preliminary round winner Herbert Wagner (KV Munich) won the bronze medal in a thrilling duel against Jürgen Seidel (SV Kleeblatt Berlin) by one pin. Defending champion Peter Hitzlberger (SKV Peiting) finished fifth.

Senior B – Gitta Heym (VES Erlangen)
Gitta Heym (VES Erlangen) repeated her preliminary round victory and became the clear title winner. Gabi Moll (TSV Schott Mainz), who finished second in the preliminary round, missed the final with a score of 467, finishing last in the final and finishing in fourth place. Heidrun Gerschler (CSV Siegmar 48) won silver, ahead of Edda Schumann (SV Carl Zeiss Jena). Defending champion Marlies Schmidt finished seventh.

Senior B – Günter Horn (KSKV Elbe-Elster)
Frank Bornemann (KSV Helmstedt) set the tone in the preliminary rounds with a score of 605, rewarding himself with a 27-pin lead, but had to settle for bronze after just 501 pins in the final. Günter Horn (KSKV Elbe-Elster, total 1130) took the title with a final score of 569, ahead of Werner Lötzsch (CSV Siegmar 48), who finished third in the preliminary round. Defending champion Dieter Michler just barely made it into the final, finishing fifth with the third-best final score.
