Add a workout to Apple Watch

Previously, when a user couldn’t find the right mode for exercising, they had to choose from the available ones what suited the meaning best. WatchOS 9 changed the game, allowing you to create your own workout and not try to adjust your activity to the operating system’s algorithms. Here’s how it is:

Wake up your Apple Watch screen and go to the Workout app.
Select a workout that is close in meaning to what you are doing, and without entering, click on the circle with three dots in the upper right corner.

On your watch, go to the Workout app.
Find a workout you want to add the above steps to.

Scroll to the bottom and select "Create Workout" if you plan to create one from scratch, or click the pencil circle to edit one you've already created.
Go to "Configure" and specify the parameters you are interested in.
Warm-up phase: Tap Warm-up, set time, distance, or choose Free. You can also add a heart rate notification.
Activity and recovery intervals. Click "Add" and set the intervals you need. You can add multiple intervals of both activity and recovery.
You don't have to limit yourself to just one. You can create new modes yourself:

Cool-down phase. Select "Cool-down" and adjust the settings as you would for the warm-up.
Create your own workout name. Click "New" and enter it in the "Preset Name" section.
Click "Create Workout".
Please note that the "Create Workout" button will only be active after you have added activity and recovery intervals. Also note that if you create your own workout in a section that means moving in place, such as Elliptical, the "Distance" parameter will not be available.

Your workouts will be available for all sections except Mixed, Pool, and Water. Here, Apple won't let you add your own parameters, and you'll have to use the ones that already exist.
