Knowing in detail how a building's energy installation works will be very useful to take full advantage of your company's potential, both in economic terms and in terms of energy efficiency. This assessment is carried out through an energy audit, which has as its main purpose the reduction of energy consumption and, consequently, economic savings .
What is an energy audit ?
An energy audit is a study, inspection and analysis general manager email lists of the facilities of a building to find out the details of energy consumption, as well as the technology and processes used to detect the necessary improvements in the facility and apply them accordingly.
An audit examines elements such as, for example, the electrical network, the lighting system and its efficiency, the integration of renewable energies, the level of thermal insulation of the building, the type of heating or air conditioning system and its efficiency, etc. After a detailed analysis of all these elements, a report is prepared with the energy efficiency levels of the facilities and the appropriate recommendations to improve them.
Thanks to the report prepared through the audit, the company will be able to be aware of consumption and thus avoid energy waste, present in many buildings due to the lack of knowledge of the state of their facilities. In addition, it contributes to the competitiveness of organizations, allowing them to allocate part of the budget that they previously allocated to energy consumption to other operations. And finally, let's not forget that energy efficiency is the first step to becoming part of the companies of the future: those that care as much about their business as about the planet.
Which companies are required to carry out an energy audit?
According to Royal Decree 56/2016, energy audits will only be mandatory for companies that meet at least one of these two requirements:
Have more than 250 employees.
The turnover exceeds 50 million euros and the balance sheet exceeds 43 million euros.
It is also mandatory for groups of companies, as defined in Article 42 of the Commercial Code.
Microenterprises and SMEs are excluded, but not temporary employment centres, public companies, universities or other profit-making services.
What are the benefits of carrying out an energy audit?
It helps improve business by implementing practices with a more adjusted cost base, thereby increasing the company's competitiveness .
Energy costs are optimized by detecting anomalies in the installation . It allows the energy expenditure of all the company's activities and tasks to be known in order to propose innovative solutions to reduce energy consumption.
More than an expense, it is an investment that will remain valid over time , since the validity period of the energy certificate is ten years. In addition, this will be recovered over time through savings on energy bills.
