Column – In 1748, John Montagu, the 4th Earl of Sandwich, spent a large part of his free time playing cards. His problem? He liked to snack during his favorite hobby, but didn’t want to get his hands dirty. He came up with the idea of putting his meat between two slices of bread, so he could keep playing with clean hands. And so the ‘sandwich’ was born! #truestory Why am I telling this story? Because there is a big chance that you will never forget it. Because from now on, you will associate sandwiches with a new story. A story that didn’t exist until now.
Need for stories
I have always been fascinated by the human need for stories. Two weeks ago I was invited phone number list to Cannes Lions | Festival of Creativity with RA*W Advertisers . There I ended up with neuroscientist Beau Lotto with his intriguing session 'Data is Meaningless! The neuroscience of why.' Among other things, he talked about how the human brain assigns meaning to the meaningless. How the brain can assign complete stories to random observations based on previous experiences.
