The quarantine process experienced with the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) pandemic affecting the whole world increased the time spent on social media platforms and had sharp effects on user behavior and searched content. As we begin to make sense of this period we are going through and plan the process we call the 'new normal', I wanted to take a closer look at video consumption, one of the topics where the effects of the pandemic are felt. Today, I chose Youtube, which is the largest search site after Google, the most visited web page after Google, and the most popular social media platform after Facebook , as a starting point.
In this article, where I have compiled the most up-to-date YouTube statistics I have access to, I also share information that I think may be useful about content trends and user behavior. Indeed, 2020, which we want to end now due to global disasters, has 7 full months ahead of us, and it is important to take the right steps for 2021 before it is too late.

What Happened on YouTube During the COVID-19 (Coronavirus) Pandemic?
According to research published by Direct Agents , YouTube seems to have increased its daily video views by a significant amount during the COVID-19 period.
#7 In the 7-day period before March 13, 2020, the platform saw an average of 3.2 trillion daily video views, and by the last week of March and the beginning of April, this figure had risen to around 10 trillion. #10 The number of daily views of dessert recipe videos also increased dramatically in mid-March.
#11 Pizza recipe videos also received 700 million views between March 15, 2020 and May 7, 2020.
#12 There was a 120% increase in the average daily views of French fry recipe videos (comparison of the date ranges of January 1, 2020 - March 14, 2020 and March 15, 2020 - May 7, 2020).
