Telefónica and MWCapital select four startups for their 5G acceleration program

Keybotics, AON Chip, eAgora and Expacia XR have been the four startups selected to participate in the third edition of the '5G ScaleUp Program', an initiative jointly promoted by Wayra, Telefónica's open innovation hub, and by 5G Barcelona, ​​a program of Mobile World Capital Barcelona (MWCapital).

The selected projects will participate in this programme for four months, with the aim of promoting entrepreneurship in the field of 5G technology.

Entrepreneurs will receive virtual moj data training from Wayra and 5G Barcelona mentors in areas such as finance, sales, marketing, investment, branding, sales and pitching, and will also receive support, access to investors, networking spaces and visibility within the 5G ecosystem.

According to a statement from Telefónica, the criteria used to select the projects included market potential and the scalability of the solution. These premises were also used last year, when the startups participating in the program were Flash Park, Ebre Drone, Hop Ubiquitous and Liip.

The President of the Government, Pedro Sánchez, met this Tuesday with the Vice President of Meta, Javier Oliván, to discuss the investments that the technology company will make in Spain and that will generate 2,000 direct jobs for highly qualified professionals.

In a statement, the Government welcomed Meta's decision to invest in Spain, recalling that digitalisation is one of the axes of the Spanish recovery plan and to which most of the European funds that are channelled will be allocated.

The Government stressed that Spain "is already a hub for talent and entrepreneurship and a country that is committed to digital training at all educational levels."

He stressed that it is at the forefront of digitalization, promoting technologies such as quantum, 5G, cloud and edge computing, as well as immersive virtual reality technologies such as the Metaverse.
