In this article we talk about the CPR or construction products regulation, which is a new regulation issued by the European Parliament through Regulation 305/201 and which establishes the harmonization conditions for the marketing of construction products throughout the European Union.

One of the sectors affected by the new standard is the manufacturing and marketing of electric cables , and therefore those who use them for their installations or equipment. The specific standard vp audit email list that regulates the new needs is EN 50575 and affects all electrical, energy, control or communications conductors that are placed in permanent installations or in engineering works.

What is the declaration of benefits ?

This European regulation CPR electric cables regulates how the “declaration of performance” should be, which replaces the old declaration of conformity , and which must clearly identify the product, establish the intended uses for it, the performance and safety specifications that it must meet, especially those related to its resistance and reaction to fire and the emission of dangerous substances.
The regulation officially came into force in July 2013 , but it will not be until July 1 of this year when cables manufactured under the previous regulation can no longer be marketed.

How the regulations affect cables
The new requirements, especially those relating to fire resistance, will condition the materials chosen to manufacture the conductor insulation and the quantities of insulation needed. This may affect the final diameter of the cables, the sections of the tubes needed to house them and the maximum intensity that each of the diameters sold can support. For the time being, the Ministry of Industry has already prepared several documents that clarify the adaptation of different regulations to the new requirements for conductors.

There are new valid conductor designations for the installations:

For individual branches (ITC-BT-014): The cables will be of minimum fire reaction class Cca-s1b,d1,a1. Those with characteristics equivalent to those of standard UNE 21.123 parts 4 or 5 comply with this requirement.
For link and meter installations (ITC-BT-016): The cables will be of minimum fire reaction class Cca-s1b,d1,a1. Cables with characteristics equivalent to standard UNE 21027, part 9 (thermosetting mixtures) or standard UNE 211002 (thermoplastic mixtures) comply with this requirement.
For interior or receiving installations (ITC-BT-020): Cables with a minimum fire reaction class Eca and tubes that do not propagate flames may be installed directly in the construction openings.
