It seems that the authorities are beginning another stage of repression against activists of the Chernobyl movement, who uncompromisingly defend the interests of citizens who suffered as a result Chernobyl disaster. Chairman of the Donetsk regional organization of the All-Ukrainian Association of Chernobyl Veterans Vladimir Derkach was summoned for questioning to the Kiev Regional Police Department of Donetsk at 12.00 June 25, 2012

For some time now in Ukraine it has been very difficult to distinguish criminal investigation from political investigation. Still fresh in memory are the failed attempts of the authorities to bring to phone number library criminal responsibility the leaders of the Chernobyl protests Vladimir Proskurin, Pyotr Prokopenko and Vladimir Biloenko.

Then criminal cases were fabricated against them immediately before the start of the XIII All-Ukrainian Reporting and Election Conference of the All-Ukrainian Public Organization “Chernobyl Union of Ukraine”, and Proskurin was captured at the door of his own home, and Prokopenko, having been shoved into a car, was taken to Kharkov straight from the well-known Pukhovka.

Now some Chernobyl Internet resources have reported that a congress of Chernobyl survivors will be held in Kiev in the coming days. One can't help but feel what people in white coats call déjà vu – something like this has already happened. For people in police uniform, the persecution of VOVCH leaders seems to be becoming an unkind tradition. Especially on the eve of Chernobyl forums.

VOO "All-Ukrainian Association of Chernobyl Veterans" expresses an angry protest against the dishonest persecution of VVCh activists and demands from the Ministry of Internal Affairs once and for all put an end to the shameful practice of police repression.
