The masters from Masterhost will confuse you quickly and at a high price)

Post by ahbappy85.2 »

Hello everyone!! Today I am opening a new section on my site - " Black List "

In the first review, we will talk about the well -known hosting company masterhost.ru (further I will write simply HC - Hosting Company ) and about my unpleasant adventures. One of my old clients contacted me and asked to optimize their metal rolling site. I agreed to help him, asking why he suddenly thought about it, because the site was not the first day and everything was fine. To this he replied that there was a complaint from HC, they say, the site has become too heavy for the package "Docent 11" - 299 rubles / month" and forced to transfer to VPS for 1150 rubles per month.
Okay, I decided to see what's what. I go to the site, see that the extensions include the ZOO component and a couple of homemade modules , the rest is static, I look at the traffic statistics +- 1500 unique visitors, I check the site through the Page Speed plugin , it shows 79 out of 100, this is normal for untouched (in terms of optimization ) Joomla. I'm already starting to have doubts about the actions of HC, I think, let me look for reviews, since I have never encountered them before.

After 20 minutes of running around the Internet, I was simply horrified and realized that the guys from HC often do such tricks, like, maybe "the client will swallow it", which, in principle, happened to my friend. Of course, I collected a list of links to reviews and sent it to my client in order to show that it was time to change HC, I even found themreplacement for the same 300 rubles per monthThe client read it and said that in any case, he would do optimization in order to switch to the old package, since his management was against switching to the new HK, the reason was that the masterhost was paid in advance and he didn’t want to bother with a refund.
I did the optimization, warning that in the future such a situation may be repeated. Here begins the most interesting. I go via FTP and start cleaning the CSS, finished, saved, but the file is not saved, saying that I do not have rights to change the files.

I make a request to the HC, a couple of hours later they answer that these are problems with the server and the site will be transferred to another one at night. In order not to waste time, I copy the site to my host and start working, thinking about what I will do here and just transfer the finished work to them. On the second day we have a new server, my work is ready. I start transferring the site, at the end I understand - the new version of the site works very clumsily on the masterhost.

I decided: I'll do it again right on their host, and in the process I'll figure overseas data out what the problem is. In the chaos of all this corps de ballet, I forgot that I have the first version of the site. We make a request to HC asking to roll back from their backup. We get the answer: It will be ready tomorrow.

Okay, we're waiting. "Tomorrow" came and if you thought they did something, I'll disappoint you, they did nothing, citing technical problems. Closer to nightfall of the same day, after a couple of requests from us on the phone in raised tones, they said that the process had started and would be ready soon. At night we received a notification that everything was done, but I was already too tired to check and switched off.

In the morning I log in via FTP to start working and, excuse me, I almost fell off my chair - from the file modification date I understand: they did nothing, my client calls Masterhost in a rage, BUT they claim that they did everything and, until I poked their noses in the file modification date, they stood their ground, after which they decided to write it all off to the fact that they thought the previous shift did everything.

And again we heard the story that they would do everything right away. A couple of hours later, the MX employees killed me, saying that they had no backup. I thought that was it, but later I remembered the copy of the first version of the site, and almost died of happiness, and even later I realized that I could have made a backup from my host.

This is what some HCs lead to. So, be careful, read the reviews and, by the way, regarding the reviews, if anyone is interested, I will leave a list of links to reviews about masterhost here.
