Rikerme Muñoz has been professionally linked to the Hospital Metropolitano de Santiago (HOMS) for three years and two months. This advanced medicine center has been a leader in Dominican health and an international benchmark for its ten years of existence. The center has more than 40 medical specialties, including Robotic Surgery, and 177 medical offices. Rikerme started out as a receptionist at the hospital and is currently the hospital's Social Media and Community Manager. She tells us how she achieved this promotion in the following interview.
Have you always known that you wanted to work in marketing?
Not really. I chose marketing because, according to my university entrance exam results, this career was the one that most resembled me, and they were absolutely right.
Your first jobs were dealing directly with the public, first in customer service and then as a receptionist at the hospital where you now manage social media. How have those experiences helped you to later relate to others through social media? Do you think it has influenced your way of communicating?
My first official job was as a receptionist at the Metropolitan Hospital of why telemarketing is significant for business Santiago. Before that, I had internships in high school. Working directly with the public has been very useful to me . While I was at the reception desk, my mission was to inform about the services and doctors available, guide those who were lost in the hospital facilities, and also collect complaints and suggestions to forward them to the department in charge. All of this has helped me to know how to address digital users and simplify the processes for them . It also helped me to better understand HOMS and to know how to deal with the difficulties that arise when the user files a complaint.
You have also specialised in being a master of ceremonies for events. What exactly does this job entail?
The truth is that it is an innate knowledge. My mother always liked me to participate in the plays at church and school, to approach the public via the microphone. I perfected my knowledge thanks to HOMS, where I eventually introduce doctors in their conferences , capturing the audience's attention to make the ceremony's agenda flow in the best possible way.
Meanwhile, you continued to advance in the Hospital and became Coordinator of the Basic Patient Care and Information Unit. What responsibilities did that position entail?
The Basic Patient Care and Information Unit (UBAIP) is made up of the hospital receptionists and myself. My responsibility is to ensure the correct functioning of the receptions and compliance with the rights and duties of the patient . I also process suggestions, complaints and thanks to the Administrative Management for possible solutions.
