Virality and buzz have always rhymed with UGC (user generated content) , or all those contents produced by users and published on their channels. Captions, photos and videos that populate the web ready to be seen by other users and, very often, used by brands.

Hashtags have the fundamental role of aggregating this content, making it usage of our employment database easily traceable, but above all acting as tags and maximizing the community effect .

Accompanying your posts with the right hashtag is much more than just posting, you automatically become part of a group of people who, in most cases, have the same tastes, passions, interests.

Man is by nature a social animal and it is therefore easy to understand how much the possibility of being part of a group and sharing moments, sensations, emotions can be worth for any user. A value that is added to the credibility given by the spontaneity and human nature of this type of content. Pluses that derive from their being created directly by users. It is undeniable: we tend to trust content published by a person more than one conveyed by a company account.

A great case study in this sense is the #whitecupcontest campaign promoted by Starbucks in Canada and the USA. Users were encouraged to decorate their Starbucks Cup, creating a social post with the photo and the dedicated hashtag (#whitecupcontest precisely). The winning design was produced as a limited series cup.
