China's Scientific and Technological Progress: Containing the US Will Not Stop the Country's Aspiration for Scientific and Technological Independence
China's computing power ranked second in the world in 2023, and the number of domestic artificial intelligence (AI) enterprises exceeded 4,400, MIIT said, highlighting the country's steady progress in many key technology sectors and improvement in innovation capacity.
Also on January 19, China held the National Engineering Awards ceremony, recognizing 81 individuals and 50 teams for outstanding contributions to engineering technology. In his instructions at the ceremony, Chinese President Xi Jinping called for high-level scientific and technological self-sufficiency to serve high-quality development, Xinhua reported.
China's robust progress in domestic innovation highlights the country's growing technological capabilities and shows that U.S.-led efforts to curb China's technological growth have not and will not curb China's technological advancement, experts say.
Tao Qing, a representative of MIIT, said during a press conference on latvia email address Friday that China has made remarkable progress in the computing power sector, as the country ranks second in the world in terms of computing power. Tao Qing added that China's innovative capabilities in cloud computing and big data are also leading the world.
