Because the header is scaled, a constant factor is created for the branding on the different devices. Your channel is now (more or less) the same everywhere. Links to social networks (social icons) and merchandise can also be found in the header. These are visible in almost all (mobile) browsers. See the screenshot below.

Sections for more control
The new layout gives you much more control over what your channel visitors see. Sections let you group videos together, like the latest uploads or likes, or you can create your own group using a playlist or tag. You can also choose how your videos are displayed, in a horizontal row or a vertical list (see image below). This gives you much more customization options. This way you can present your content in a clear and attractive way.


Disadvantages of the new layout
A disadvantage of the new layout is that the over/about section has been moved and is no longer visible on the 'home' of your channel.
