Posting content on social media, advertising on other sites, guest blogging, can all be good digital marketing channels . But all of them have one major list of afghanistan consumer email drawback. This can eventually harm your business.

Would you like to know more?

If you're posting content only on social media, you're posting about real estate that isn't yours.

And if you can't claim ownership of the site, you can't be upset if the person who actually managed and owned it did what they wanted to do.

Frankly, it's where it belongs.

Not yours.

The same thinking even applies to Facebook algorithms, social media platform updates… they decide because they run it. They own it. You don’t own that platform.

So this fear factor, the “when are they going to change/take down/do it and how will that affect my content” applies to a lot of platforms. Let’s call it “brand fear” for now.

Think of all the platforms that brand fear applies to.

Medium.
LinkedIn.
All other blogs and publications on the planet.
Every social media platform on the planet.
The only fear of platform branding that doesn't apply is ?

Your website.
You own your site. You get to say when it goes down, or when it's online. When you add content, and what content to add. How it looks. Presentation. How your content looks. How well you optimize it. Etc.

So…

We're not saying you shouldn't use Facebook or social media. We're saying start posting on your site, NOW. Focus on that first.

Don't have one? Get one.

Your site is your property.

Make sure you are investing in your own property.

This way, when a platform goes down and takes your content with it, you won't have any major problems.

Part 2: Many changes in social media platforms and the death of “fads” mean that what has been tried has become more true.

If you didn't know, Facebook's algorithms are like a weather vane in strong winds these days.

They are everywhere.

One side effect of all the changes to Facebook’s algorithm is that the reach of Facebook business pages could be at an all-time low.
