Ada Lovelace, the first programmer
Daughter of the poet George Gordon Byron, Ada Lovelace (1815-1852), is a London mathematician considered by many to be the first computer programmer in history . It was she who programmed the first automatic calculating machine , invented by the English mathematician Charles Babbage and in 1843 she developed what is considered the first software. The ADA programming language, developed in the seventies at the initiative of the United States Department of Defense (DoD), bears her name in her honor.
